Attitude (Php.2:5)

Think of yourselves the way Christ Jesus thought of himself. (The Message)

How did Jesus think of Himself? Self-assessment is vital to a healthy spiritual life. He thought of Himself as the Messiah, the light of the world, the bread of life, the Good Shepherd, the way, the truth, the life, the Alpha, the Omega, same as the Father, the Son of David, the Son of God, the Son of Man and the I Am.

Upon what was His thought based? The Word of His Father. Scripture was Jesus’ food. He said that His food was to do the will of His Father. His
words were the words of His Father and He only did what He saw His Father doing.

It would be a bit presumptuous for us to think of ourselves to be the same as Jesus but it is the way Jesus thinks that is our cue. He was the Son of God. It follows then that we think of ourselves as His younger siblings, created by God through Jesus. When we were born again we became the Father’s children. Jesus is the One whom we were created to be like. Being created in the image of God we know who we are, the benefits we have and the example by which we set our self-assessment.

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus (NIV)
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus (KJV)
You should think in the same way Christ Jesus does. (NIV Readers)
