Prayer for the 4th

Lord, you have given us the beauty of a land that is unequaled anywhere. Within it you placed resources that have enabled the birth and development of a whole civilization. At the core of this magnificent gift you placed a faith in the hearts of those early settlers. They built a foundation for everyone who came after them. The very nature of the documents you led them to write speaks to the power of your Word that gave them birth. We give you praise and thanks this day for the graciousness of your continual gifts and presence. Keep us mindful that with gifts comes responsibility especially in how we use them and pass them on to new generations. Help us to remember your meaning inscribed and take care not to revise in any way what you originally intended. You are the same yesterday, today and forever. Touch the hearts of those whose vision is short and strengthen the resolve of those who risk their lives for the truths upon which this land was founded. Thank you Lord God, Heavenly Father, in Jesus' name. Amen
