Gems of Jesus Matt.6:21 “For where you treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
There is a country song ‘My Elusive Dreams.’ The verses reveal a man following ‘dreams and schemes’ to find ‘it.’ Maybe he’ll find ‘it’ in a goldmine in Alaska, maybe a farm in Nebraska, work in Nashville, traveling from place to place looking for ‘it.’ In each place he lands he concludes ‘We couldn’t find ‘it’ there so we moved on.’ He reflects to his wife who is with him, “I know you’re tired of following; my elusive dreams and schemes, they are only fleeting things, my elusive dreams.” ‘It’ is that final invisible spiritual peace and security every heart was designed and created for, a relationship with Jesus, God the Son. This is why Jesus observes in the verses just before this, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.”
