When we hear those words, “ I am the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6),” a spark should ignite any lingering reluctance and reduce it to ashes. Doubt, hesitancy and compromise fade in the glow of the presence of Christ. Only sin forces these negative moments to block the urging of the Spirit. The Cross always stands as the symbol through which we know the power of sin has been defeated and His words come to life in the moment of every challenge we face, the challenge to speak and act in His name.

When we accept:
His way---faith, love, humility, prayer and obedience---it becomes our way and
His truth---His Word---becomes our truth and secures our way and
His life---the Holy Spirit---automatically follows and becomes our life into eternity.

Any next moment is a moment of opportunity to experience these three words and the power they bring, the spiritual lift that His life gives and the proof of His continuing presence is contained in our mind, our heart and our spirit. When we step out in faith, when we seize the moment, when we speak and act in the consciousness of His Spirit, that life bursts forth.

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do (Eph.2:10).”

When we have that vulnerable opportune moment of being with someone who is asking the question of faith or you sense the urge to share your faith, or someone is asking for help or needing comfort or a ride to the hospital or just your presence in a time of pain, that is your ‘Jesus moment’ connecting you with eternity. That is your special moment tailored by the Lord just for you. This is how He is working in the individual lives of believers all over the world. It is a moment when time stands still and is no more. It is a blending of the Holy Spirit and your spirit when circumstance is not a matter of what you can see but what you can’t see and you are the called one, the special one, the one in whom God has entrusted His ministry and mission for that person, that circumstance, that issue. It is a moment when eternity is grounded in the present, your present, God’s present. They are the same. That is when Jesus really makes Himself known as the way, the truth and the life. He is that personal, that spiritual and that real.

When Jesus spoke His last words before He ascended they were words transfixed for each of us when our consciousness of the need for Him arises, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8).”
