Pentecost 6 Moving On in the Holy Spirit

Pentecost 6 Moving On in the Holy Spirit

When you have your spiritual bearings, that is, your spiritual consciousness, your spiritual connection and you are open to the Spirit’s conditioning; it’s time to be on the move. Consider these three things again. First, you realize you are living in a spiritual dimension that governs the physical dimension. You begin reading everything from a spiritual perspective. There is a whole spiritual reality behind everything you see. Second, you were born again spiritually and have found your real identity as an image of God and a disciple of Jesus. Jesus becomes the focal point for reading and reacting to circumstance. Third, you are seeking to grow in your spiritual identity by letting the Holy Spirit mature you through Scripture.

With these three things in mind you find a whole new way of experiencing life. So you need to move on from where you have been spiritually, move out from your comfort zones and move step-by-step, conscious of Jesus’ presence. You pray knowing life on this level can only be experienced with Him as your companion and the Holy Spirit as your guide. You look for the spiritual reality behind every moment you breathe. You trust that what you think, what you say and what you do will be pleasing to God. This is why He has given His Word. Jesus says, ”The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life (Jn.6:63).” Will we always get it right? No, but the process is learning while you are moving along the way. Sometimes it’s two steps forward and three steps back but every step is a learning. We learn to repent, be forgiven, grow in that moment, keep in the Word and move on to the next knowing that the Cross of Jesus, His death in our place, covers us.

So stepping out faithfully in the Word is exactly like Jesus did. Every next moment is an unknown into which we are called to let Jesus be our Lord and the Holy Spirit the One who gives us the spiritual sensitivity to perceive what is taking place around us. It is a constant yielding to the will of God because He alone knows how to move us in the unseen. As we make choices and decisions His Spirit is our strength and guide. The Scripture then affirms or corrects us and through it we are being processed to become mature disciples who welcome the unknown as an opportunity. “There's nothing like the written Word of God for showing you the way to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another—showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God's way. Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us (2Tim.3:16 The Message Bible).” Remember Jesus’ words? "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head" and "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God (Lk.9:58,62).”

The work of the Spirit is a threefold enterprise: restoring the heart, building a community of hearts and spreading the Kingdom of hearts. How?--- Stay tuned.
