Prayer for faithful awareness

Heavenly Father, it is so easy to get into myself and just retire there. The enormity of the problems over which I have no control seem endless. Father, as your child I know my real need is to depend on you in every conscious moment. I want to be productive in a way that you get the nod, you get the glory, that your ideas and presence make the difference. When I get bogged down in self-concern or in the web and wash of the world's problems keep me aware that I am called into the direct environment in which my body lives. That is where you have called me to be your maturing child. Heighten my awareness of each person with whom I come in contact. Keep me alert to the fact that you have raised up people all over to trust you where they are. I would only ask that You would send your Spirit to give me wisdom and care where I am, with those whom I meet with what you have given me to work with. Thank you Father, in Jesus' name. Amen

I think sometimes we don't realize the importance of the ministry we have right where we are. If we have been following Him, then we are probably right where He wants us and needs us. We just have to figure out, like you said, how to be productive for His glory with the circumstances we have at the moment. I think many of us like to get 'visions of grandeur' that lead us out of His vision for our lives. Of course, the are times when He may call us away to something else, even to something grand - but, the only course that truly glorifies Him is the one to which He calls us.
